The first known owners of The Shady Glen Resort were registered on January 3, 1868. The original resort used a water wheel to generate power. It was located where the Canyon Plunge and the Zoom Flume slides end in the glen below. There also was a bowling alley/dance hall. This facilty mysteriously burned down in the late 1800's.
The second hotel was built around 1900 where our two bedroom suites are now located. That hotel burned down only ten years later.
Ownership of the property has changed 34 times since 1868. The Aragona family became owners in 1947; Frank & Claire Aragona are the current owners. There was a 3 story building with 50 rooms and 2 dining halls; one hall for adults and one for children.
The 200 year old bridge on Shady Glen Rd was featured on the New York's Bicentennial Tour. The waterfall that you can see in our photo history was featured on an "I Love NY" commercial.
The Zoom Flume was our first slide, that opened in 1981. This year marks Zoom Flume Waterpark's 25th year.
